John Mackie

Head of Pan-Africa Franchise

As Head of the Pan-Africa Franchise, John has overall investment responsibility for all STANLIB Asset Management’s Pan Africa investment strategies, outside South Africa. He also oversees the Africa fixed income portfolios. John first joined the investment management industry in 1996 when he was appointed Portfolio Manager at Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank Asset Management, having effectively worked within the asset management industry for most of his professional career. Prior to that, John also spent eleven years at Standard Merchant Bank’s Treasury Division in Johannesburg, seven of which were in Corporate Foreign Exchange sales; the remainder as a Money Market dealer.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Cape Town.

Jaynesh Bhana

Equity Analyst

BCom(Investment Management)
Industry experience – 4 years

Jaynesh joined STANLIB’s Pan-Africa franchise as a trainee analyst in 2013 through the STANLIB Graduate Program. Jaynesh was retained as an equity analyst on the fund from 2014. His responsibilities include investment recommendations as well as country and company research.

Jaynesh Bhana holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Investment Management from the University of Pretoria.

Lievin Mbuyamba

Fixed Income Analyst

BCom(Hons)(Investment Management), FRM
Industry experience – 6 years

Lievin is an analyst for STANLIB’s Pan-Africa fixed income portfolios. Lievin began his career in the financial services industry in 2011 as a graduate in the Finance and Strategic Projects department within Liberty Africa, a member of the Liberty Group. In this role, he assisted in the consolidation of financials as well as strategic support for all of Liberty’s insurance and asset management businesses across the continent. In 2012, Lievin joined STANLIB spending the majority of his time in the role of Performance Analyst, responsible for quantitative analysis and reporting on various multi-asset portfolios. Lievin holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Investment Management from the University of Johannesburg. He is also an FRM charter holder and a CFA candidate (he has passed Level II).
